The Airbus owned Messerschmitt Me-262 reproduction was one of the stars of the Paris Air Legend airshow in early September, displaying under clear blue skies on both days.Completed in 2005, Me-262A-1c D-IMTT was built by The Me 262 Project at Paine Field in Everett near Seattle, Washington. The company had been formed to take over an earlier project to create five reproductions of the early jet fighter, of which four were to flying condition, using an original airframe as a template whilst it was restored for a museum. The new Me-262s were made using the same techniques and materials employed by Messerschmitt, with only a few modern concessions for safety, such as the use of General Electric CJ610 engines in place of the original Junkers Jumo 004Bs.📷 Huw Hopkins ... The Cambridge Flying Group recently moved from their longstanding base at Cambridge Airport to Old Warden. Operating two beautiful yellow and silver Tiger Moths, the group offers experience flights, tailwheel and type conversions, aerobatic and formation training as well as scholarships.G-AOEI is a particularly historic airframe, having served with the British Expeditionary Force in France during 1939-40, leaving France just a few days before the Dunkirk evacuation. 'Echo India' was also originally acquired by the CFG from the Shuttleworth Collection in 1957, so it is fitting that it has now returned to Old Warden. The pair of Tiger Moths displayed at the Shuttleworth Carnival Airshow, flying with the Collection's Tiger Moth before a wonderful tailchase as a pair.📷 Huw Hopkins ... September 15th marks Battle of Britain Day - the anniversary of the largest aerial battle of the conflict.
